And we’re back

The last few weeks have been hectic, nearing the end of session so all of the students and staff at the University are in overdrive. The requests are getting stranger and their minds are turning more to mush. Everybody is looking forward to summer session starting, me inlcuded. I have had very little time to take photos recently and even less time to blog about them. This changes now!

Last night I got a call about Pat playing a gig 5 minutes down the road from me, I had no plans for the evening so I decided to hop on down to CBD Sports Bar. The night was organised as the Crash Tragic EP launch and the supports were The Wireflys and Pat Arnold.

Pat was on first with an acoustic set, during which he played some Inanimate Objects songs, Billie Jean, and some other covers. Your standard Pat Arnold acoustic set really, entertaining, easy and enjoyable to watch. Even with Pat forgetting the words to one of his own songs, he covered well and engaged the sparsley populated room. Ben Szota from Bennie James and the Hesitant Few joined him for a song also.

The second band of the night were Newcastle based band The Wireflys. They were an interesting mix of Australian rock sounds of the last 5 years, but with a slightly rawer sound. The downfall of this band was their volume, which was just far too loud for the room. There aren’t as many photos of this band for that reason, my ears were fatigued from just being up the front for 2 songs.
