Interview Questions

I’m about to embark on creating a series of videos and interviews for a new multimedia venture with Main St. Recording studios. The videos will be 5-8 minutes long and will feature interviews and a live performance by the band in Main St. Studios.

Interviewing bands is something that I have very little experience in however I feel that i’m adequately prepared to interview the Free Agent Crew for our first video.

This new outlet has had my mind churning for interesting questions that I personally would want to hear if it was my favourite band being interviewed. So this leads me to my question for you the reader;

“If you were interviewing your favourite band, what one question would you ask them?”

Gyst once more

2 band comps in 2 weeks. 2 wins. $1200 for the band kitty. It’s recording time soon, we’re weighing up the options; Main St or Electric Sun. We have an EP recording package at Nano Music Productions and judging by the demos on the Nano Myspace page they aren’t exactly a rock friendly studio. (more…)

Bugs of Constantinople (Birds of Tokyo)

Birds of Tokyo played at the Enmore Theatre, Sydney last night. Karnivool’s Ian Kenny fronted the band and their much more radio freindly style of pop rock enthused the capacity crowd. Opening acts Trial Kennedy and Tomas Ford had the audience bopping however there was no secret who the crowd was there to see. The impressive LED panels behind the band created a surreal experience to watch with the opening song of the BOT set being backlit by a giant green readout from a heart-rate monitor.

The majority of the lighting for the concert came from these 5 giant panels, so getting good shots from the camera (especially being so far back from the front) made life difficult, as did my lack of press pass. Apparently mobile phones with 10mp cameras are alright to take in, but an SLR which has no video function for bootlegging is not allowed inside the Enmore. Birds of Tokyo was probably the 2nd most mobile phones i’ve seen bootlegging a concert (the winner of that contest being Crowded House playing the Sydney Entertainment Center in 2007, when the band asked the audience to get their phones out and light up the room with them).
